Working my way through old Albums

Filed under: General — gezi @ 11:53 pm

Remember those days when, in order to freeze a memory, you had to go through all this trouble of loading film (what is that?) into a camera, taking the snap-shot, getting the film developed and prints made from that film?

Then when you were unorganized all these prints ended up in shoe boxes and if your were organized those prints filled some photo albums.

It appears that I was organized because I don’t have shoe boxes full of photos.

But I have this one album with photos from my high school days and a bit beyond. Now with everything happening on computer monitors it’s too much trouble to find these albums – and it also appears those photos start to deteriorate – so I started to scan all those images.

The first results are from the end of my high school days where we Bolcheviki refused the general gala reception to receive our certificates and instead got drunk at a class mates house. But still the world had to know about our accomplishments so a few of us organized a funeral march through the city with a coffin loaded with the stuff we would be using to reach the primary goal. I know, this is Germany where it is not a crime to be caught we a bottle in your hand that possibly might contain some alcohol (!) – so yes, we were able to make some stops and test the coffin content.

At that time in Germany graduating high school with the ‘Abitur’ was a big thing, so the press reported about it and the graduates were listed, usually with their intended career.

Again, revolutioners as we were, we did not take that too serious and some of us reported rather unconventional careers. I thought I did the cooles reporting to be an artist (Kuenstler) but some boso stole she show and reporting the same – but maybe, just maybe, I was the boso and he really intended to be an artist.

Without further ado, here is one I scan today – naybe more will follow.
